Each year in January, Pink city (Jaipur) blooms into an explosion of color, happiness, excitement and festivities as preparations for the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival begins.
Jaipur, on its own, is a marvellous city with majestic palaces, forts, archways and traditional Rajasthani culture that has thrived over centuries. The first thing that strikes you is the multitude of colors that sweeps across your visual horizon.

The 2016 ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival Annual Writing Competition provides a wonderful opportunity for writers to submit creative pieces, reviews or reports on the Festival authors and their works. The best of all entries received will be published on the festival website and its related magazines and partners leading up to the event and at the end of the competition.
The Jaipur Literature Festival is an annual literature festival taking place in the(Jaipur) India since 2006. World’s biggest literary festival, it was described as one of the biggest literature festival.
The Diggi Palace Hotel serves as the main venue of the festival. It is held each year in Jaipur, Rajasthan during the month of January, usually in the Hall of Audience and gardens of the Diggi Palace in the city centre, and celebrates excellence in Rajasthani, Indian and International writing.
As the largest FREE literary festival on earth, JLF brings together some of the greatest thinkers and writers from across South Asia and the world. From Nobel laureates to local language writers, Man Booker prize winners to debut novelists, every January the most remarkable, witty, sensitive and brilliant collection of authors come together for five days of readings, debates and discussions at the beautiful Diggi Palace in the Rajasthani capital.
The festival directors are the writers Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and it is produced by Sanjoy Roy of Teamwork Productions. Surina Narula has been the Founder Sponsor and Festival Advisor for the literature festival.
The festival gained international media attention in 2012, because of a number of events related to Salman Rushdie and the Satanic Verses controversy. In recent years it faces media criticism and lampooning due to its perceived elitism, irrelevance, commercialization of literature and dependence on celebrities
Registration for 2016 Audition
The registrations for the 2016 edition of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) are now open. The literary extravaganza, which is hailed as a confluence of the greatest authors and thinkers from around the globe, has been scheduled to take place from 21st – 25th, January 2016.
Over its previous editions JLF has garnered a reputation of being one of the most anticipated and sought after literary meets in the continent. Mainly held at The Diggi Palace Hotel every year, the organisers took a leap forward in 2015, and extended the festival events to several other venues.
