High quality wigs are always preferred and used. Wigs can be purchased in beauty salons or wig stores. These are slightly different from actual human hair, they can be relatively expensive. You can use hair extension wefts to create your own wigs, and by doing this can cut the cost. Hair extension wefts come in vast variety and have qualities like all different colors, lengths, textures and qualities. Creating a handmade wig from hair extension wefts is not too difficult. You need to use few tools for this and can do so easily. Tools you require, such as wig cap, marker, Styrofoam wig block.
Follow the below process for making wig from hair extension:
1. First Place the wig cap on your head and, mark the areas from where your ears begin using marker.
2. Pull the cap and during this position the wig cap on a Styrofoam wig block. With ball pins hold the wig cap in place.
3. Pin the one end of the weft to one ear marker. Now wrap the weft around the back of the wig cap to the opposite ear marker and Pin it in place. You can cut the excess weft if require.
4. Through the middle of the weft stick a pin at the back of the mannequin head. By doing this extension stays in place and does not bubble when sewing.
5. Sew the weft into place with a curved needle. This curved needle helps you to sew without lifting the wig cap. Stitches create a knot and keep the stitching tight and secure.
6. Continue sewing wefts from ear to ear from the bottom up until you get half way up the back of the head.
7. Now clip the top weft up. Then fill the empty space of the wig cap with wefts, sewing them into place.
8. Place the wig cap on your head. Position the lace front wig closure at the top of the wig cap until it is in the desired area. This positioning will differ depending on whether the wig wearer wants bangs or not.
9. Safety pin the closure into place, then remove the wig cap and place it on the wig block. Sew the closure onto the wig cap to complete the wig.
