Pushkar is a little lakeside village near Ajmer(Rajasthan), bordered by the Nag Pahar & the edge of the desert. At full moon of Kartik Poornima each year, almost 200,000 people flock to Pushkar, bringing with thousands of cattle, for several days of program, camel racing & colorful festivals. The Rajasthan Government has been promoting this big fair as an international attraction by adding vibrant folk dances, the folk dances & other sporting & cultural events. This year the Pushkar fair will be held from 18th November 2015 till 25th November 2015.
The Pushkar Camel fair in India is one of the world’s biggest camel & livestock fairs. During the fair, there are many things to do, including shopping at the bazaar & handicraft stalls that have been set by local women to sell fabrics, Jewelery & other wares, and watching camel races & competitions in the stadium. There are also hot-air balloon excursions. Pushkar is one of the oldest existing cities in India & is home to one of five sacred pilgrim sites of devout Hindus.
